In my opinion yes.

It is a completely different show nowadays to how it was in it's 63-89 original run.

Gone for the most part are the multi part stories to be replaced with often breathless 45 minute single episodes.

Treat yourself to Genesis of the Daleks and see if you like it.

Genesis is definitely one of the better Who stories.

Usually with a long-running show I'd recommend starting at the beginning, but due to Who for the most part consisting of self-contained stories, I would say definitely jump into Pertwee's and (Tom) Baker's output as they arguably are the best and most accessible Doctors to start with for someone who is new to the show.

As with every show there are good and bad stories, but there are few to no stinkers in the above two doctors' output in my opinion.

Cheers B_E I will admit I was a bit intimidated with the amount of seasons and where to start.

No problem - there is a lot of material to wade through when it comes to Who.

Just make sure you avoid that horrible new incarnation aimed at kids with low attention spans and you'll be alright.

Read The Curse Of Fenric by Ian Briggs.
I put my hands up here and say that I've never seen TCOF. Is it even half as scary as this novelisation?? Quite unlike any other Who novel that I've read. Along with Greatest Show... this will be the next Who I buy!!!

The dvd version is excellent as it's been tinkered with and definitely improved. They haven't added monsters or anything like that just given it all some consistency with the weather.

McCoy's final season of four stories were excellent.
