Tonight and All this week I've decided I'm going to have planet of the apes week, and watch all original films and series, no remakes or new version just the originals..

I'm still waiting for someone to explain the Tim Burton one to me. That ending left me genuinely baffled.

Finished watching the extras on the Slice&Dice documentary.
The second disc was brilliant. Don't go in the Backwoods doc
was top notch. Some great trailers too on this disc. Really feel
now I should re-watch some of the movies featured, like Halloween
Prom Night, Stagefright, to name a few. In two minds now on what
to watch tonight. Finish off season eleven of Married with Children
or Slayer-Live at the Warfield. Oh and American Gothic looked
interesting by the way!

I did that quite recently and really enjoyed the series. I picked up the US boxset which includes the original version of the penultimate film...whose title I can't remember... and includes some intense bloody violence later removed...

If you can Gag, take a read of Pierre Boulle's 1964 novel Monkey Planet, the source for the original Apes film, but various ideas and themes from the novel were used throughout the series...

And here's a pic of Linda Harrison who plays Nova, Charlton Heston's squeeze in the first film, presented here for no other reason that she's an astonishing beauty...

I'm not sure why, but I've never seen the Tim Burton version of Planet of the Apes – it's one of those 'I've never got around to it' situations.

I know it is very poorly regarded, but I want to see it anyway.

for me it was Burton's worst movie a huge miss fire on his part, but if you haven't seen it i would give it a watch.

It's worth seeing of course, it looks very good, as you'd expect from a visualist like Tim Burton helming a multi-million dollar sci-fi film, but y'know, the general consensus on this one is correct for a change, it is quite poor... what's the Rise of the Planet of the Apes like ? I seem to remember that getting good notices when it came out...
