Nooooooooooooooo, I just sat through 3 Sci Fy channel budgeted Playstation One cut scene looking cartoons that had the occasional real people badly superimposed into it, and I think they were trying to act (if that's what you can call it). Wow, that's 7 to 8 hours of my life I won't get back. There was a line quoted in one of them that actually summed it all up very well in fact.... "wait a minute, how did this happen? We're smarter than this"

Currently working my way through my 007 Blu-Ray boxset. Just finished Thunderball. I forgot how great this film is. I Also seemed to forget that this seems to be the main target for spoofing in Austin Powers, which made it even more enjoyable for me. Also watched 12 Angry Men in Blu-Ray... What can I say? It's one of the greatest films ever made! I've only seen it twice and I love it to pieces. Never a dull moment in it. I've even shine it to people who don't normally watch older/B&W films and they all have the same reaction as me.

I liked HELLGATE too. Lots of fun, particularly some of the cheesy dialogue and amusing slow-mo 'action' scenes. For me its a good horror comedy in the vein of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, VAMP and BRAINDEAD. I'd watch it again for sure. Also watched WHITE OF THE EYE. Interesting film that needs another watch to appreciate I think. More of a thriller than an out and out horror, stylishly shot and interesting use of music. The PQ of the new Arrow blu ray is pretty damn grainy a lot of the time and not very sharp. It varies scene to scene. I guess its as good as it can get though without serious restoration. I doubt the 2006 Dutch DVD (its only dvd release?) is as good.

the stuff another great restoration from arrow. another good cohen movie which is not quite as good as some of his other work but is still a lot of fun, thanks largely to the very underrated Michael Moriarty who is hired by some rival company's to find out what makes the stuff so additive. another highlight is Paul Sorvino character. part b movie, part satire on consumerism. 7.5/10 innocent blood. years since i have seen this great little film, which is part gangster movie, part comedy and part vampire movie. lots of familiar faces which include Tom Savini. a film that is crying out for a blu ray release. the real highlight for me was Robert Loggia as Sallie (The Shark) Macelli. 9/10 blood and black lace. my first time watching this classic Mario Bava giallo. can see this film would of had a lot of influence on later films and directors. a stunningly beautiful and vibrate film which needs a blu ray release. a true classic of the genre. 9.5/10 Last edited by trebor8273; 26th March 2014 at 08:38 PM. |
