'Nu-Hammer' is merely a shadow of the Hammer of old, unfortunately. Despite the tepid responses to The Quiet Ones, I also have it on my Love Film queue due to piqued curiosity more than anything else. Undoubtedly I will be similarly nonplussed after I've experienced it. |

Watched Berberian Sound Studio (Peter Strickland, 2011). Artificial Eye UK dvd. The more I see this, the more I like it. Mate was suitably impressed as well, thankfully my "crew" aren't afraid of subs! Have some time to myself tonight so will try and watch at least two films tonight.

Having a bit of a Marvel catch up as had not seen the last 3 films Last night we watched Thor Dark World - Visually more impressive than the first film, and a much darker film but also some very funny moments, the Loki character is brilliant you never know what he is going to do next. Guardians of the Galaxy - wow I was not expecting it to be that good, probably better than The Avengers too, there some great moments of tension and some real laugh out loud moments, I had dismissed this film originally as I was put off by the Rodent but after seeing reviews saying how good it was I had to see for myself, I glad I went now, if I didn't have my daughter I would of snuck into Sin City 2 as the cinema makes it very easy to do so Going to watch Captain America Winter Solider tonight.

The last showing starring Robert England A film set in a cinema complex. R E plays a character who worked there for years , And think its about time he made his own film and a first off a kind using real people. He locks in 2 victims and plays games with them while recording it at the same time . Bit of a slow burner (not to slow) and more of a psychological thriller R E still plays the nutter but a different type of character that's a far cry away from the usual type he plays. The ending could have been a tadge more explosive but still a worthy watch It won't exactly be a film you rave about or set the film industry alight but at the same time you won't be disappointed either . The Godsend (1980) - I wasn't expecting a great deal from this but it's one of the most chilling films I've seen in a long time. For all intents and purposes this is an 'Omen' knock-off but one that surpasses the film it seeks to imitate (at least in my opinion). The tone is relentlessly bleak and there are several moments that are genuinely creepy (although I have to confess that 'creepy kid' movies are a bit of a weakness of mine ). This can be picked up very cheaply indeed on the Scream Factory 'All Night Horror Marathon' collection and I would have no hesitation in recommending it... All Night Horror Movie Marathon 1 DVD Region 1 US Import NTSC: Amazon.co.uk: Dennis Weaver, Shelley Winters, Debbie Reynolds: DVD & Blu-ray |
