James Brown turns up. Yeah, the eighties ....

A rather silly film. But not in a good way.

I’m glad you’re watching these so we don’t have to haha xx

Don't you recognise a high recommend when you see it??
Honestly rhough ... it just didn't gel ... shame as on paper it looks like a no brainer ... instead it's just brainless.
Next!!

Mighty Joe Young (1988)
This being the Disney remake of the King Kong cash in. Charlize Therion and the late Bill Paxton play kindly white folks in Africa. The usual semi racist drivel later ... and we're off to a different kind of jungle ... LA . The usual stereotypes abound. Embittered hunter with a grudge? Check! Fatuous capitalist? Check! Unwordly science drip? Check! Honestly Congo was more entertaining tbh. Remakes?? I shit 'em

Dogs In Space (Richard Lowenstein)

Lighthearted tribute to the Aussie 'indie' scene starring old Chokie himself Michael Hutchence. Follow the trials and tribulations of nascent rock gawds . Plus the tunes are great. I can only imagine what yer average INXS fan would have thought Of course Mammon rears his ugly head towards the end ....

Finally saw the new Halloween (or Halloween H40 as I will remember it), and it was really good. Slightly irrational in places but a solid 80's style slasher, the music was top notch(JC is on form) & the gore effects good.
I don't want to spoil it but lots of stuff that basically didn't need to happen, it was forced by the characters.
What modern audiences will make of it I don't know!

My Cousin Rachel (2017, Roger Michell)

Adaptation of the Du Maurier story. When a ward unexpectedly hears of his benefactor's demise, he seeks to blame the widow, whom has left 'the scene of the crime' so to speak with indecent haste to his mind .... matters take a differing course when said bint shows up at his palatial like gaff . Rachel Weisz stars as ... Rachel. Hmmm. If you know this story at all , I will say tis faithful enough with the merest sop to modernity ... cough .

It wasn't bad at all even though i prefer the original Olivia de Havilland / Richard Burton film.

I keep meaning to pick that up on dvd but not got around to it yet. Screenbound re-released it last year.

Straight from Hell (2015)

No it isn't.

This extremely dull supposed horror film that deals with trace phenomena is straight from a stationary cupboard named boring.

The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018)

Like ohmygawd, it's been for - EVER since we last chatted ... wait til I tell you this primo nugget ...

Ahem. Surprisingly entertaing Mila Kunis vehicle. Fish outta water tale as local lass (and sparky bestie ) trot the globe Bonding and battling the baddies inna slightly cartoony style when she discovers that her scummy ex is actually a spook. Some decent stunts so worth a look. Funnier than Spy etc.
