I hope someone's bought Tony Scott a tripod and told him how to use it!

Completely agree, really poor. It was one i was looking forward to seeing and held off watching my disc till the time felt right. (Hope you understand what i mean by that)

Watched a very good classic western this evening. John Huston's The Unforgiven.

A film about racial prejudice amongst whites when one of their family turns out to be of Indian bloodline. A gripping last half hour siege was as good as anything i have seen recently.

An excellent cast - Burt Lancaster, Audrey Hepburn, Doug McClure, Lilian Gish and John Saxon.

I like some of Tony Scott's stuff, but y'know -- good luck with the Wild Bunch.

Peckinpah films are great because Peckinpah had a force of personality (for good or bad) that other directors just don't have. He didn't just put a stamp on films, he bled, cried and spewed all over them. You can't reboot that shit. Well, you can try. But this aint no cheesy 80's horror.

Is the straw dogs remake out yet? I might have dreamt that. Im too lazy to check imdb these days.

Anyhoo -- yeah that Fourth Kind really sucked. I'm amazed I got through that crap.

Recently watched -- Dark Days. Brilliant docu about people living in the New York subway.

Dagon -- really classy and fun tentacle crazyness from Yuzna and Stuart Gordon. Loved it.

All the stuff with the boy and his dog works really well, one of the better talking mutts I’ve come across. In the second half, the film goes underground to a utopian society, run as a creepy retro Americana world by Jason Robards. Thought the film fell down a bit during this section, partly because the boy/dog relationship is lost, partly because the utopian world is annoyingly underdeveloped. For some reason, everyone wears whiteface makeup – thought initially it was meant to be an effect of lack of sunlight, but it looks so blatantly like caked-on face paint. There’s also a typically dystopian bit of brutal population control, but none of it really carries much impact, occurring to characters we haven’t been introduced to. But after that when the boy and his dog are reunited, there is one of the best anti-cliché endings I’ve ever seen! Had to rewind to make sure what I thought had happened had actually happened.
This is the greatest movie ever made and I want a blu-ray with 16 hours worth of extra's.

Hell Of The Living Dead/Virus/Zombie Creeping Flesh etc

A bloody stupid and thoroughly incompetent film that I am just drunk enough to have found entertaining. Just like every other time I have seen it.

Really though, it's bloody awful.
