Silence of the Lambs

Don't think I've watched this since it first came out, and while I rated it then, with all the hype, imitations and parodies since, it was too easy for me to pretty much dismiss it.

So I decided to revisit it with an open mind. And I can still see why it is rated so highly.

The scene at the end in the killer's house, for example, is still one of most suspenseful things I've seen.
Esp the way the early scene in training showing her weak spot in a similar situation, casts doubt in your mind, on how it's going to play out.

Not sure what to make of it TBH.
The expression 'rape face' just made me laugh out loud, sorry!

I've just returned from the cinema where I saw I Give It a Year. It isn't a conventional rom-com and easily passes the minimum laugh requirement and, whilst being fairly predictable, is unconventional enough to be a fun watch.

You could about going to see that instead.

Last week's viewing:

That breaks down as thirteen Best Picture Oscar winners, eight rentals and one cinema visit.

It's a really good film but, then again, I'm a big fan of Aki Kaurismäki's work.

Why does everyone think i'm against Stoker? My initial reaction may not match what I later see of it, isn't that often the way?

As for I Give It a Year I usualy avoid Rom-Coms like a plague ridden mongrol but if it's reccomended as 'non-conventional' from someone I trust to use the term fairly then i'll give it a shot when it hit's DVD.

Last night I watched Chasing Amy and it's the 3rd time Ive watched it and everytime I watch the film it stays in my head for days and moves me in some way I can't explain and no other film has ever managed to do that. What do you call it when a film moves you everytime you watch it

some recent viewings
really enjoyed Ed Wood, great performance from everyone, especially Bill Murray but martin landau was amazing. also found hatchet to be a very fun little movie and cant wait to see the sequel. i know a lot of people don't like the police academy films and they did go down hill fast after Steve Gutenberg left, but i really enjoyed the first few movies. what ever happened to Gutenberg was huge in 80s then just seemed to disappear.

Harumph. you don't see me watching Kingdom Of The Spiders, do you?? (to clear this up, I am a lilylivered arachnaphobe.)

Watching stuff that you know is likely to upset you is a strange mindset. Much like our glorious censors imho.
