Night Of The Hunted & Nude Vampire (Encore dvds).

Was nice to finally see an u/c NOTH, a bleak, grim delight after all these years. NV was just odd, though was less lyrical, must rewatch. Tonight....Iron Rose and Paula-Paula methinks!!

Sleepwalker

Part 80's satire, part blue-tinted Argento style Giallo, this forgotten film by Saxon Logan is a a real find. Certainly, plenty here to appeal to Cult-labbers. The accompanying short The Insomniac is an equally awake / dreaming curio, featuring Satanic Rites Of Dracula starlet Valerie ( Van ) Ost.

Together with two more short films, lengthy interview with the director and booklet this is another winner from the BFI Flipside. Highly recommended.

Default The Monkees Head

What the teeny boppers of the late 60's thought about this god only knows,It would be the equivalent of One Direction (people of the future insert latest boy band sensation) making Apocalypse Now,The Monkees kick there manufactured image in the balls stab it in the eyes and piss on its corpse, and The Porpoise Song is better than any Beatles song.

Day off today so I caught up on my too watch list.

First up was the German blu-ray of Society which I greatly enjoyed.

This was followed by Dead Man Down which I hadn't seen before. Its a very effective romantic thriller and recommended.

Finally my Kevin Smith marathon approaches its end with Zack and Miri make a porno which I think is great.

First night of grimmfest.

TO JENNIFER: from the director of the vile HATE CRIME comes another found footage film. This time somewhat more character led. Still shocking but easier to stomach than his previous film.

THE GLOAMING: nosferatu inspired short. Interesting but not sure what the hell wasgoing on!

NEXT EXIT: Another fun short. This one will make you think twice about using sat nav.

HOME SWEET HOME: A french canadian horror from the director of MUTANTS. This ones supurbly shot and very tense. The twist is guessable and it does nothing origional but stylish and tense enough to be worth seeking out.

GIRL AT THE DOOR: Groundhog day supernatural horror with a man haunted by a one night stand.

ATTACK OF THE BRAINSUCKERS: Another short. Homages 50s sci fi and horror to nake a statement on the legacy of labotomy.

ANGST, PISS + DRID: Short about two norweigen serial killers falling out of love. Sick as hell and very funny.

HOUSE WITH 100 EYES: A banal and pathetic couples are secretly making snuff films. All over the place tonally it veers from being hilariously funny to some of the sickest shit youll see. Worth seeking out if you have a strong stomach.

CRAZY FOR YOU: British short about a serial killer attempting to stop his nasty murder habit after he finds love. Very funny and worth a watch.

THE BORDERLANDS: Best film so far. VERY scary found footage picture with a haunted church and a dark pagan past. Compared to the wicker man but has more in common with STONE TAPE. Definately worth seeking this out. Im buying thi day of release.

ON AIR: German serial killer. Slick and nasty with plenty of twists but underwhelming coming after Borderlands. Still worth a watch

Yesterday's watches were as follows:
Creature From the Haunted Sea: Not a bad film, the monster looked comical but it seemed as though it could've worked without the monster. Nice little horror movie.
The Devil Bat: Again quite a good film Lugosi's performance was superb and the rest of the cast was great. The Bat itself was quite cool also.
Hitler: Rise of Evil pt 2: Again like part one Robert Carlyle stole the show nothing more to say on that one.

I also thought it was terrible. The chronology doesn't work at all, because this is set 40 years after the events in the original film, with technology ensuring it is set in the 'here and now', but Leatherface is not, as he should be, in his 60s or 70s and some of the other characters don't appear to have aged at all.
