Terror By Night. 1946. On a train from London to Edinburgh, Holmes and Watson escort a lady who is carrying the Star of Rhodesia diamond. When the son is killed and the diamond stolen the duo with Inspector Lestrade try to discover the culprit. This who dunnit film is filled with high fast paced atmosphere built up with great actors who bring the characters to life and each with a different motive to be on the train. With the black and white cinematography and light shades give out the suspense along with some comedy replies from Holmes. The train setting is the best aspect with the details and arrangement of the cramped gangways and private compartments.

Savage Beach Sidaris does it again. Whilst not as high octane as his other work, this torrid tale of intrigue and hair is a lot of fun. It's all to do with stolen gold, but who cares when the locations are so nice? Recommended. But only to folk who get it

The Beast A man is set to wed his son off to a rich man's daughter. I feel dirty, I need a shower after this. Not watching again even if you tied me up. I've seen it that's all. Sent from my POT-LX1 using Tapatalk

Well that's a lot better than I thought it would be gripping, interesting with some good performances . When Enzo Ferrari uses Ford to increase the price of his company , this ends up setting Henry Ford 2nd who sets about getting revenge by having Ford beat Ferrari at Le Mans , he gets Carroll Shelby ( Matt Damon) the only American to win at Le Mans to help build a car , he in turn gets driver Ken Miles ( Christian Bale) to help him design and race the car. It was a fascinating watch , Miles biggest foe wasn't Ferrari themself but the executives at Ford who don't think he's the right choice and try to screw him ever chance they get. Think even those with little interest in cars will enjoy this. 8.5/10 |

The Orchard End Murder (1981) A grimy mash up of the idyllic of the English village and straight up exploitation. The murder, which takes place in a large pile of discarded apples in said orchard is grim to say the least and the film on the whole quite disturbing. This short thriller originally had a cinema release as the support feature to Gary Sherman's Dead and Buried. I highly recommend the BFI Flipside release of The Orchard End Murder, especially to those who like a bit of Folk Horror which this film has the feel of. |
