Not such as surprise, its always the same when this type of thing is said, whether it be actors saying they aren't leaving a role or say that they aren't taking a role and put to much effort into denying etc. Its the same thing with game consoles or movies, its denied a new console or film is coming out and low and behold they do a 180 in a couple of months.

If the next Doctor turns out to be Miranda Hart I'm switching off

It seemed quite likely he'd leave when Moffat left and to be honest i think it's for the best. Let Chibnall start afresh.
