Sinister - (Netflix UK)
I thought this film had a strong start and got me thinking this movie would be in some ways similar to 'The Dark Half' only the killer the character is writing about is real so it would be different... i was so sad to see the film cross into the real of the paranormal. If the killer hadn't turned out to be a ghost of sorts at the end this film could have been a very good movie indeed.

Annabel (Cinema)
I liked the counjouring - even thought i haven't got much time for paranormal films i thought Insidious was well made and that lead me to the counjouring which lead me to the cinema. long story short i won;t get that time back ever...

Jacob's ladder (Bly-Ray)
I saw this being mentioned during the top 100 horror films list we all took part in and after years of dodging it i finally took time to watch it. I was a little taken back with just how simple, straightforward the storyline ad general idea was and it's execution. I will be holding onto the film for another watch because i do like Tim Robbins acting a lot but it isn;t a brilliant film.

The Maze Runner (Cinema today)
I was escorting a client to the cinema today and watched this, i was supervised at how well the film turned out. It is well made, all of the actors do a great job of carrying the story and the pace is nice. Anyone that enjoys post apocalyptic stories or the hunger games battle royale will certainly be at home watching this film. give it a try folks it's actually really good. save your cinema money however, this can wait for a Blu-Ray release.

Drag Me To Hell (Netflix UK)
I haven;t been a fan of Raimi for a long time after watching the evil dead films far too many times as a teen but this film was a refreshing Halloween treat. I enjoyed it all to be honest!

So Interstellar. Great film, not Nolan's best, but as usual when you strip away the popcorn veneer there are some interesting ideas that will ensure this is a film to return to time and time again. Does it redefine cinema as some over eager fanboys suggest - no it doesn't. Will it make my top ten of 2014 - no. Is it worth seeing at the cinema - ansolutely. go and see it. go and see it now!

I will stick my colours to the mast on this one, Interstellar for me is Nolan's best film. Out of the nearly 50 films I've seen this year theatrically, it might even be my favourite of the whole year.

My mate asked me earlier if Interstellar is one of Nolan's best, and I replied, 'pretty much every film he makes is one of his best' haha.

But what I can say for certain is, Interstellar is one of the best sci-fi films ever made, and will stand the test of time.

Evils of the night.

A group of aliens set up shop in an abandoned old hospital. They're looking for the blood of young humans between the ages of 16-24 in order to extend their life spans. Why that age group? Because...... reasons!
fortunately for the aliens the hospital is right next to the woods, where most of the local teenagers (who all look to be in their mid to late 20's) go to drink and screw and swim in the lake. The aliens are too busy with science stuff to actually break out the nets and go hunting for horny teens so instead they pay a couple of greasy auto mechanics gold coins to go out in masks and do the work for them (Played to seedy perfection by Neville Brand and Aldo Ray). The rationale being that they are the thickest sods in the area and happy to commit major felonies for gold coins. Why the aliens actually use gold coins is another mystery, once again its probably down to reasons. So stop asking awkward questions the clumsy exposition scenes can't provide satisfactory explanations for. Unfortunately the two grease monkeys are way to into their new jobs and seem to kill as many kids as they capture. Even when things go to plan the aliens have this stupid habit of leaving their victims in unlocked rooms unattended and the act surprise when the victims bolt.

Evils of the night is a video era cheapie with plenty of bloods and boobs, lingering shots of naked teens screwing (including the lovely Amber Lynn) and some genuinely atrocious dialogue. However its also pretty fun on a trashy level and so long as you're in the mood for something entertaining in the trashiest sense imaginable then its worth seeking this out.
I was highly entertained by the film.

My god you sold me on that one.

Is this the one with the artwork with the chick with the big tits and the tentacles or hands, and the Millenium falcon in the background? Gorgon Video?

SCAR - One from the post 'Saw', post 'Hostel' slush pile, I knew , being the judgemental and intolerant viewer I am, that 'Scar' wouldn't really get my pulse racing. But it is a fairly serviceable eighty minutes or so of latter day by- the-numbers direct to DVD horror, and manages to deck out its derivative plot line with enough low brow nastiness to make it worthwhile for degenerates like myself. It concerns the survivor of a small town torture porn frenzy (instigated by a mortician who wears a groovy beret!) and shows us all what happens when she returns to her homestead... will history repeat itself? Do you reckon? There are a few plus points along the way, most of which I've mentioned already - the gore and the beret wearing mortician. Also, 'May' actress Angela Bettis is present and lends a certain decorum, and there are a couple of moments which held unfathomable appeal for me personally (ie two teens drive in to a town called 'Oved' whilst a snatch of Devo can be heard on their car radio... a 'joke' more pointless than my entire life). I came away from it feeling as though I'd enjoyed it more than I perhaps should have, but I kind of recommend it if you ever come across a valueless hour and a half that needs filling.

DAY OF THE DEAD - The 'remake'. This really is a remake in name only - I've rarely witnessed as many liberties taken with source material for the purposes of a rehash. Nothing to do with simmering interpersonal tension in a paranoid army bunker whilst the living dead fester outside - here, a load of people get flu in a backwater town and transform into highly athletic zombies. Oh yeah, the army is out, and there's a bunker of sorts at the end. It's loathed by genre fans who compare it with the Romero - justifiably so in many ways, because it pretty much pisses on the original's grave with a spiteful sneer all over its face. But, my philosophy is, never place original and remake side by side. View them as separate entities. Seen in this light, 'Day Of The Dead' is revealed as utterly derivative banal horror bollocks, which is an improvement on it being seen as a slimy traitor out to cut dear old George's throat with its sinister cudgel. However, had it been titled 'Small Town Zombie Outbreak Part 237 - Viral Splatter Mayhem (Again)', it may have been marginally better received. In fact, I quite enjoyed it on certain level - it's slickly made schlock which hurtles along quickly, desperately throwing every genre cliché this way and that as it racks up the body count. And, in that, it managed to be pretty entertaining, which was really all I ever required of it.

It depends on the day of the week, but I think Following, Memento, Dark Knight Rises and possibly Inception are all better films than Interstellar (my immediate reaction which could change once I have had more time to reflect and perhaps see it again).

Today Following is IMHO his best.

Interstellar is still a good film and, again IMHO, a must see.

I watched Dark Knight Rises again last night but kept thinking why doesn't Superman fly over from Metropolis and sort it all out!

Frankie, did you watch SCAR in 3D? My copy is a blurry mess with the old colour style 3D glasses.
