I really like Damien too.
The first is the undoubtable classic with so many memorable scenes and David Warner/ Patrick Troughton in it's favour.

But the boy who plays Damien in the sequel really makes the film work, getting you on his side as he finds out his fate and is shocked and confused, to coming to terms with his powers and influence and finally using them to his advantage.

A great sequel in my opinion.
I also saw it as a kid and spent most of my life really wanting a Raven familiar as a result.
My favourite scene is the Woman/Raven/Truck part.

Pity the "Final Conflict" dropped the ball.

I enjoy the first three Omen films, but agree that the original is the better film. Sam Neill makes for a decent Damien in The Final Conflict.

I am perfectly happy to sit through "The Final Conflict", like you say it has it's moments and i agree Sam Neil is good as Damien, it's just that it all goes a bit shit at the end, for a start they totally change the dagger ritual.

If it takes all the daggers to kill a baby Damien how comes it takes just one to do in a more powerful version. Doesn't make sense.
Also the holy ending just feels a bit naff.

Omen IV is hard to even talk about it's such a piece of crap.

I like the way she embodies the common person who given the choice of no consequence to their actions thinks screw it let's go crazy.
Karloff's character is shocked by her excesses and realises he has to stop the one he loves who has become a monster.

I think the film is unusual and has a real point to make and defies the usual mad scientist commonplace routine for something more down to earth and real.
Also there's Ogilvy, Susan George, a 60's club scene and trippy psychedelic inspired hypnosis scenes.

What more could you want???
What point does it have to make?

That we all conform to how society wants us to act, but given the choice and with no consequence most of us would probably say sod it and go on a rampage. (people are pretty selfish in general)
Hidden animalistic urges and all that stuff.

Wasn't there studio interference with the ending?

Wouldn't be surprised it smacks of being a bit too convenient.

Sam Neil is a lot more convincing as the Devils representative on earth than Donald Trump, both heading towards the Apocalypse but Trump is sponsored by Looney Tunes.
